  • All Aboard Summer Reading Program, "I've Been Readin' on the Railroad"
    June 21 - August 28, 2010

    A magical experience that will take you on a trip and teach you new things about people and places! Children may participate in the program at the B&O in Baltimore or Ellicott City Station and earn a free book and a chance to win an engineer's outfit. It's easy and the trip down the tracks is fun! Let the magic of reading and railroad take you on a special journey. Pick up a reading journal at either Museum location, browse the childrens' railroad books and begin your journey! Read 8 railroad-related books, complete your journal and return it to either Museum location by August 28, 2010 for your free book and a chance to win an engineer's outfit.

     
  • Ellicott's Tots
    Thursdays, July 1 - September 30, 2010
    10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

    A unique visit to the Ellicott City Station where children can play, learn and explore. This four week interactive program incorporates story time, crafts, games and more into a fun activity session for children ages 2-5. Limited to 10 children; advance registration required. $40 for a four week session that includes admission to the museum and activities for one child and one adult. Please note that no Ellicott Tots session is scheduled for September 2, 2011. Contact Tiffany Shaw at tiffanys@borail.org or 410-752-2490 x 214.

    Experience the story of our Nation's drive to improve travel from the horse drawn wagons of the National Road to the steam engines of the B&O Railroad.

    During the month of September, boy or girl scouts who wear their scout uniforms to the B&O will receive $1.00 off regular admission. Take advantage of additional savings and reserve your scout group by contacting group sales at 410-752-2462 x 205.

  • Blacksmith Day
    Saturday, September 25, 2010
    11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

    Celebrate the Ellicott City Fall Fest by joining members of the Blacksmith Guild of Central Maryland at their forges on the B&O Plaza. Ellicott City Station provides a rare opportunity to watch blacksmiths ply their trade. Five 12 year olds may try their hand at forging plasticene clay with wooden hammers. Advance registration required for sessions at 11:30 and 1:30 by contacting 410-461-1945.

    An annual holiday celebration of toy trains and model railroading featuring a new multi-dimensional O-gauge model train layout, a Thomas the Tank engine layout and the Museum's permanent HO model train layout inside the Freight House. Meet Santa and Frosty the Snowman on certain weekends throughout the festival.

    7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

    Enjoy holiday shopping in Ellicott's City's historic district until midnight. Ellicott City Station's Gift Shop and some exhibits will be open until 10:00 p.m.
