- All Aboard Summer Reading Program
June 1, 2009 - August 28, 2009 A magical experience that will take you on a trip and teach you new things about people and places! Participate in the “I've Been Readin' on the Railroad” Summer Reading Program at the B & O Railroad Museum and the Ellicott City Station and earn a free book and a chance to win an engineer's outfit. It's easy and the trip down the tracks will be fun. Let the magic of reading and the railroad take you on a special journey. Pick up a reading journal at the B & O Railroad Museum or the Ellicott City Station, browse the children's railroad books and begin your journey! Read 8 railroad-related books, complete your journal and return it to either Museum by August 28, 2009 for your free book and a chance to win an engineer's outfit!

Saturday, September 26, 2009 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Members of the Blacksmith Guild of Central Maryland at their forges on the B&O Plaza. The station provides a rare opportunity to watch blacksmiths ply their trade.

- Victorian Fun Fair (former Ye Olde Kids Fest)
Saturday & Sunday, October 17 & 18, 2009 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. For kids of every age! Explore Victorian home entertainment: toys, conundrums, parlor games, & crafts. Have fun the old fashioned way.

- Candlelight Evening
Friday, November 20, 2009 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Enjoy a special evening of music, history and refreshments at the historic sites of Ellicott City. Ellicott City Station will be open from 7-10 p.m.
- Holiday Festival of Trains Opening Weekend
Friday through Sunday November 27 - November 29, 2009 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Special guest: Victorian Santa Claus Holiday celebration of toy trains and model railroading including an O-gauge layout in the car house, the Museum's permanent HO-gauge layout in the freight house, an N-gauge layout, and a miniature Thomas the Tank Engine!
See what Santa wore in the days of yore! Saturday, November 28th, see how he looked in 1848. Friday and Sunday, November 27th and 29th, see how he looked in 1862. Santa will be on hand to chat with our visitors and will be handing out special candy canes.
December 2009
- Holiday Festival of Trains
Wednesdays - Sundays December 1, 2009 - January 2010 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Holiday celebration of toy trains and model railroading including an O-gauge layout in the car house, the Museum's permanent HO-gauge layout in the freight house, an N-gauge layout, and a miniature Thomas the Tank Engine layout! Please note that the Museum is closed on Christmas Eve & Day and New Year's Day. Please note the Museum is open on New Year's Eve.
- Midnight Madness
Friday, December 4, 2009 7 p.m. - Midnight Enjoy holiday shopping in Ellicott City's historic district! The Ellicott City Station's Museum Store will be open as well as some of the exhibits.
